JC2 Series League Rules and Info
Just a quick little rule/info page so I don’t have to talk too much before the game.
A. Game
We play No Limit Texas Hold’em. Buy in amount is $35 and you get $10k in chips. There will be a $30 Rebuy or a $20 Reload up until the first break.
The Reload puts you back at $10k in chips. For example if you decide to Reload and you have $3k in chips you’ll get $7k in chips giving you $10k. If you Reload with $9k in chips you will get $1k in chips giving you $10k in chips.
Blinds schedule will be on the computer screens. Levels are 20 minutes long. Time will be stopped at Tournament Director’s discretion for table moves and combining tables.
Three breaks will be scheduled and they will all involve coloring up of chips. The first color up will remove the $25 chips, the second color up will remove the $100 chips, the third will remove the $500 chips. Please wait until your chips have been colored up to leave the table. There will also be a short break for table combines (3 tables to 2, 2 tables to final table)..
Re-Buys\Reloads must be called and completed before the next hand is dealt. After the first break no Re-Buys\Reloads will be allowed. Each player is allowed 1 rebuy OR 1 reload.
Our game is a friendly one and we have some newer players from time to time. Hands are what is on the cards, not what the player calls. So if a player calls 2 Pair but doesn’t realize he actually made a Full House, he’s given the Full House.
An invitation will be sent out on Facebook, when you say you are "Going" your seat is being held for that game. If you find out you can't go please let me know ASAP. I setup the tables based solely on the count on FB, so the more notice I have the better. Remember, we have players that are not on FB, so I try to update the number of seats left often to give everyone an idea. If you end up on the "Waiting List" I will tell you if a seat opens up.
Positions will be drawn at 5:50 - 5:55 and dealing will commence at 6 p.m. Positions are drawn by cards. If you are not present by 5:50 your spot will be drawn for you. The first player to arrive for the night will decide which table is which for position draws (He/She will put the suit statues where they want). The tournament Director (Jay) will choose first and pick his seat. Whoever the first player to a table is can pick their seat, every one after fills in by card order.
The maximum amount of players we can take is 30, if we reach 30 RSVP’s anyone else RSVPing after will be put on a waiting list and are invited to come and see if anyone doesn’t show. RSVP is considered marking yourself as "Going" on the FB invite, or texting me if you aren't on FB. If an expected player isn't there by start time and isn't responding to my texts/DMs a player on the waiting list can take their spot after the first blind level. If the late player then shows up that player is welcome to hang out and drink beer!
If a player is late he/she will be blinded out until they arrive. If something comes up and they won’t be able to make it, their chips will be removed from play. All players must be present by the first break, if you do not show up before the first break you will be removed from the tournament.
Please call/text Jay as soon as possible if you are running late or won’t make it.
If a hand is dealt and you are not in your position to play it, your hand will be folded for you.
If two or more tables are being run, players will be moved if one table has two or more people than another. Movement is done by Jay and will be the player in the same position as the one he/she is replacing, so that blinds are not doubled on a player.
We use the “Dead Button” rule for Blinds being knocked out. Basically, the button always moves to the next seat and the blinds move as they would had the Blind player not been knocked out. No player will ever post two Big Blinds in a row.
If two or more tables are being run, the final table will be set when the amount of players left reaches 10. The Blinds Clock will be paused, positions will be re-drawn, the Ace will be the first dealer and chooses their seat. Once everyone is seated and the blinds are posted the Blinds Clock will be restarted and play will resume.
B. Prizes
The prizes will be on the screens during the game once all Buy-ins and Re-Buys are tallied.
The following is how I payout. Payout percentages are in parenthesis.
10 and under: Top 2 Pays (65%, 35%)
11 - 20 Players: Top 3 Pays (50%, 35%, 15%)
21-30 Players: Top 4 Pays (50%, 25%, 15%, 10%)
Ties for a payout will be split between the two players.
From time to time a Bounty chip will be issued, usually this is to the person that won the month before or has had a string of good luck. Once that person is knocked completely out (If they Re-Buy it doesnt count) of the tournament the Bounty chip is collected by the player that took them out. If the Bountied player wins again, the next month’s bounty will be doubled.
C. Refreshments and House Layout
Julie always puts out a nice spread of food. Please feel free to arrive within an hour of game time to talk, eat and drink.
Please don't put food/plates on the poker tables, they aren't made for that. There are folding trays that can be used if needed.
Any drinks left behind become ours. We will redistribute them on the next game as “Orphans”. Feel free to enjoy the orphans!
The kegerator is available to everyone, please enjoy a beer or three! If you'd like to throw a few bucks in the box for beer that is considered very nice to do, but isn't expected.
We recycle so put any empties in the bin provided.
Clean up after yourself if you spill.
Please smoke outside near the metal set of table and chairs.
Bathroom is next to the bar, another one is upstairs down the short hall.
D. JC2 “Championship Series” Rules
We’ll be doing a Championship Series on the side of our usual monthly game. Basically everyone will put up an extra $5 each monthly game which will go into a pot for a 10 player tournament in November, Top 2 Pays. Points will be awarded based on the number of players of each monthly tournament and your overall finish in each tournament. Details follow.
1. The formula for calculating points is: Sqrt(Total Players * Buyin * (Your Buyin Amount/Rebuys-Reloads)) / (Finishing Position+1). This creates a nice curve that isn’t linear and both awards winners more for winning bigger tournaments and takes into account any rebuys/reloads. Check this page for how the points shake out depending on the number of players.
2. At the end of the October Tournament, the Top 10 players will be invited to play in a Final Table. All players will be invited and if enough show up we will run a second table for those not in the Championship. Should one of the Top 10 not be able to participate in the Championship, the #11 points leader will then be invited etc. Every effort will be made for the Championship table to have 10 Players.
3. Each player’s top 8 finishes will count towards their point total for the year. This will ensure that a scheduling conflict doesn’t cost someone their seat at the final table. If you want to see your scores, and which ones are being counted towards the current standings, click here.
4. Ties where two players are taken out on the same hand will grant points in the following manner. The tied player that acted first will receive the higher position. For instance, if Players A and B both go all in on the same hand and lose to Player C we would determine which player was the closest to the dealer button on the hand and that player would be awarded the higher of the two positions. Should the players be at separate tables and the times of the bust out are too close to call we will try to determine which player had the most chips before the hand started, the player with the better stack will be awarded the higher of the two positions. If the stacks can’t be determined easily, a flip of the coin will decide the tie.
5. Pre-paying is fine if you’d like. Once your money goes in it's part of the pot and will not be refunded.
6. In the event that a player has to leave a tournament game before its completion the player’s remaining chips will be blinded out. Series points will be awarded for whatever place the player's chips make it to after blinding.
7. If two or more players want to split a pot, points will be given for whichever spot they split at. For example, if the last three players decide on a split, everyone gets points for 3rd place.
8. All standings ties will be handled by the software. The points are displayed with 2 decimal places but are calculated out to at least 4 decimal places. The entire number will be checked to decide the tie.
9. The Final Table will follow the same Blind Schedule as the monthly game, but players start with $15k in chips, no reloads or rebuys. The Player of the Year will draw the first card for seating, then 2nd through 10th will draw.
E. Etiquette
As stated above, this is a friendly game, please remember that. Criticizing play or being somewhat abusive is frowned upon. Everyone pays for the same amount of chips and are free to play them how they like. Everyone has lost hands, everyone has taken bad beats, everyone knows that everyone else doesn't play the way they want them to. We'd rather you say, "Good hand." Sip your beer and put up your next blind than grumble about play or call people out on their decisions. This is our home, these are our friends and family, take things like that to the casino.
Splashing zee pot will not be tolerated. Not even if it's your club.
Influincing a hand once you are out of it, or at anytime is not allowed. For instance, when a player makes a bet and another is thinking of calling saying things like, "C'mon, you've got him beat!" or "He checked the turn, no way he made a flush!". If you aren't sure, just remain quiet and allow the player to make their own decisions.
Please, no string bets. A String Bet is when you declare, “I call...and raise you”. It’s bad form. Just call the raise.
We have newer players playing all the time, please take this into account if someone isn’t sure what they are doing. Help them out when you can or when they ask. Let’s make someone a regular!
Music is supplied and is awesome as I have chosen each song. Complaining about the music will most likely result in me turning it up. If you bring your kids be aware that some songs have expletives in them, I will try to mute or skip songs if kids are in the room but my accuracy for such actions gets worse as drinks are poured into me.
If you leave the table to get a drink it’s nice to ask others if they need one. Especially if you ask Jay.
If you tinkle when you sprinkle, be a sweetie and clean that shit up...no one wants to see that...you nasty ass.
Most importantly, No Tomfoolery.
Thanks for playing! If you have questions please ask them before the cards fly!
Jay
